A tragic head-on collision in Dracut, Massachusetts, has left one man dead and multiple others injured following a serious crash that occurred late Tuesday night on Merrimack Avenue.
According to police, emergency responders were called to the scene shortly after 8:30 p.m. after reports of a violent crash involving two vehicles. When officers arrived, they found an overturned Jeep Wrangler with significant damage and a man lying unconscious nearby. Authorities say the driver had been ejected from the vehicle during the impact.
An off-duty emergency medical technician who happened to be in the area immediately began performing CPR on the victim before first responders arrived. Despite these efforts, the man was transported to Lowell General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. He has since been identified as 48-year-old Damian Torres of Tyngsborough, Massachusetts.
In the second vehicle, a Subaru Forester, a woman and a teenager were present at the time of the crash. Both individuals sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by emergency personnel. Officials have not released further details regarding their conditions but confirmed that their injuries were not life-threatening.
Authorities also launched an extensive search of the area after initial reports suggested there may have been a second occupant inside the Jeep. Due to the proximity of the crash site to the Merrimack River, a coordinated search effort was conducted involving a K-9 unit and a boat. Despite the search, no additional individuals were located, and police have not confirmed that anyone else was involved.
